Creates the Rhode Island Social Media Regulation act, which would not permit a Rhode Island resident who is a minor to be an account holder on a social media's platform.
Exempts from taxation the property of the non-profit Mount St. Rita Health Centre located in Cumberland, RI. The exemption would be effective as of December 31, 2025.
Disqualifies individuals with prior felony convictions from purchasing or possessing a firearm.
Allows a law enforcement agency to consider expunged records when issuing a license or permit to carry a pistol or revolver.
Changes the application to purchase a firearm. Further, this act would require all persons seeking to possess a firearm except for police and military personnel to complete and pass a basic firearm safety training course.
Requires that in the town of Coventry, local regulations shall require approval of the permitting authority for both private and public improvements prior to final plan approval.
Increases reimbursement caps promulgated in 2018 and applies to eligible costs for library projects incurred from June 30, 2025 through June 30, 2031, or ending earlier if the Office of Library Information Services amends the regulations.
Provides that any facility operated by the federal Department of Defense would be eligible for payment in lieu of taxes.
Clarifies that buildings on leased land in the town of South Kingstown shall be taxed as real estate whether or not the leases are in writing or recorded.
Under the emergency fund for victims, increases the share of a victim’s total award that may be used for relocation related expenses but not increase total compensation available to a victim.
Prohibits the use of black plastic takeout containers for use to take prepared foods and drinks from restaurants, stores, and other retail sales establishments.
JOINT RESOLUTION MAKING AN APPROPRIATION OF $100,000 FOR THE RHODE ISLAND COMMISSION ON PREJUDICE & BIAS (This resolution would appropriate the sum of $100,000 to the Rhode Island Commission on Prejudice and Bias.)
Specifies that it is unlawful for any person under the age of eighteen (18) to possess a firearm.
JOINT RESOLUTION MAKING AN APPROPRIATION OF $500,000 TO THRIVE BEHAVIORAL HEALTH, INC. TO SUPPORT THE HILLSGROVE CLUBHOUSE PROGRAM (Authorizes the appropriation of the sum of five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) to Thrive Behavioral Health, Inc. to support the Hillsgrove Clubhouse Program.)
Changes the term of drug court to recovery court.
VACATE THE FORFEITURE OR REVOCATION OF THE CHARTER OF THE CUMBERLAND LODGE #14, FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE
Provides a licensed liquor retailer/cannabis retailer/or hemp consumable retailer that received an infused-beverage endorsement from the cannabis control commission the authorization to sell at retail THC infused beverages in accordance with this chapter.
Allocates the assessment of fines for failure to file reports between the board of elections between the candidate and political action or political party committee.
Authorizes the Johnston town council to set tax exemption limit to an amount determined by the city council via ordinance or resolution for qualified individuals defined in the act.
Allows for food and food supplies procurement by the state of less than $25,000 in aggregate under the small purchase regulations.
Permits the family court to award custody of household pets to the plaintiff in a domestic abuse complaint, including the enforcement remedy of a restraining order or other injunctive relief.
Permits victims of stalking to recover for expenses related to relocation or home modification under the crime victim compensation program.
Requires that an independent forensic audit of the department of transportation be commissioned by the attorney general.
Establishes a performance audit division within the office of the auditor general.
Provides amendments to procedures necessary for approval of transactions between utilities by giving the public utilities commission jurisdiction; mandates public hearings, allows intervention by any interested party and provides for appeal.
