Rhode Island S3363 amends the General Laws to allow the town of Tiverton to authorize, by ordinance, a real estate tax credit for seniors over the age of sixty-five (65) years. This tax credit applies to real property owned and occupied by seniors in Tiverton, and it is in addition to any other exemptions from taxation to which the senior may be entitled. The exemption is applied uniformly and without regard to ability to pay. Only one exemption is granted to cotenants, joint tenants, and tenants by the entirety, even if all are over 65 years old.
