This bill extends the sunsetting of the "Don't Block the Box" automated traffic detection systems from January 15, 2027, to January 15, 2030. These systems, which monitor and detect violations of traffic control signals, are authorized for installation by the state department of transportation and municipalities. The director of the department of transportation must approve any installation not done by the department itself. Compensation to private entities providing these systems is based on the value of the equipment and services, not on revenue generated. The bill takes effect upon passage.
