Federal SB1020 requires the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to extend the time period during which licensees must start construction on certain hydropower projects. The extension can last up to 6 additional years beyond the 8 years authorized by the Federal Power Act. The extension can be granted in up to three consecutive 2-year periods, starting after the final extension granted under the Federal Power Act expires. The extension ends no later than 6 years after the latest date the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission can extend the construction period under the Federal Power Act.
