The Laken Riley Act amends the Immigration and Nationality Act to require the Secretary of Homeland Security to detain aliens charged with theft. State attorneys general can sue for injunctive relief if the Secretary fails to detain such aliens. The Act also allows state attorneys general to sue for injunctive relief if the Secretary releases or paroles aliens harming the state.
