Financial Exploitation Prevention Act of 2025 postpones redemption of securities for specified adults to prevent financial exploitation.
The Financial Exploitation Prevention Act of 2025 amends the Investment Company Act of 1940 to allow registered open-end investment companies and transfer agents to postpone the redemption of securities for up to 15 business days if they reasonably believe the security holder is a specified adult and financial exploitation is involved. A specified adult is defined as an individual age 65 or older, or an individual age 18 or older with a mental or physical impairment that prevents them from protecting their own interests.
