H.R.164

Promoting Opportunities to Widen Electrical Resilience Act of 2025 POWER Act of 2025

Chamber Passed·1/16/25

Authorizes federal agencies to provide hazard mitigation assistance for electric utilities.

The Promoting Opportunities to Widen Electrical Resilience Act of 2025, or POWER Act of 2025, amends the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act to authorize federal agencies to provide certain essential assistance for hazard mitigation for electric utilities. This assistance can be provided jointly with activities for the restoration of power. The bill ensures that receiving emergency restoration assistance does not make electric utility facilities ineligible for hazard mitigation assistance.
