Ohio SB63 prohibits ranked choice voting in elections and withholds Local Government Fund distributions from municipalities or counties that use it.

Ohio SB63 amends the Ohio Revised Code to prohibit the use of ranked choice voting or instant runoff voting in any primary, general, or special election. If a county or municipal corporation approves the use of these voting methods, it becomes ineligible to receive local government fund distributions from the state. The bill also mandates that the commissioner of the Ohio Department of Taxation reduce or cease payments from the local government fund to the ineligible local authority. These reductions continue until the local authority rescinds its approval for ranked choice voting.
