SB351

Allow deployed service member to attend public meetings virtually

Introduced·2/4/26
Introduced Text

Allows deployed service members to attend public meetings virtually in Ohio.

This bill amends Ohio law to allow deployed service members to attend public meetings virtually. It requires public bodies to establish a means for conversing with witnesses, receiving documentary testimony, and permitting public comment during virtual meetings. The bill also outlines conditions under which public bodies can hold virtual meetings and hearings, including restrictions on virtual meetings involving major nonroutine expenditures, significant hiring decisions, or tax issues. The bill repeals existing section 121.221 of the Revised Code and replaces it with new provisions.
