Introduced Text

Ohio SB169 mandates emotional intelligence training for peace officers.

Ohio SB169 amends the state's peace officer training requirements. It mandates that the Ohio peace officer training commission develop a training program that includes courses on emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence training involves managing one's own emotions and understanding the emotions of others. The bill also specifies other training requirements, such as crisis intervention, handling missing children and child abuse cases, and companion animal encounters.
