Introduced Text

Ohio HB831 mandates Medicaid and health plan issuers to cover treatments for PANDAS and PANS.

Ohio HB831 requires Medicaid and health plan issuers to cover the screening, diagnosis, and treatment of Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal Infections (PANDAS) and Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome (PANS). The coverage must include comprehensive diagnostic evaluation, symptomatic relief, and related services, as well as immunomodulatory therapies and antimicrobial treatment. The bill prohibits cost-sharing requirements that are less favorable than those applied to other medical and surgical benefits.
