HB828

Regards use of automated employment decision tools

Introduced·4/21/26
Introduced Text

Ohio HB828 mandates written notification to workers about the use of automated employment decision tools.

Ohio HB828 requires personnel placement services using automated employment decision tools to inform workers or prospective workers in writing. The notice must detail the use of the tool, the qualifications and characteristics it applies, the type of data collected, and the data retention policy. Employers, employment agencies, and personnel placement services must allow workers to request an alternative assessment if they object to the use of automated tools. The bill prohibits reliance solely on automated tools for employment decisions, allowing their use only if reviewed by a human.
