The bill establishes a food desert elimination grant program to incentivize grocery stores in food deserts. The Department of Development will administer the program, offering grants to grocery retailers who plan to sell fresh fruits, vegetables, and other healthful foods in areas identified as food deserts. Each grocery retailer can receive up to $15,000 per fiscal year. Recipients must submit quarterly reports to the department detailing the grant amount and the program's health impact.
