Expands postconviction relief for Ohio inmates based on DNA evidence showing actual innocence.

Ohio HB490 expands postconviction relief for inmates by allowing them to petition for relief based on DNA evidence showing actual innocence. The bill applies to those convicted of felonies and sentenced to death. It allows for postconviction discovery, including depositions and subpoenas, and removes page limits on petitions and responses for death-sentenced inmates. The court can grant relief, including vacating sentences and ordering resentencing, if DNA evidence shows actual innocence.
