Ohio HB453 amends insurance and Medicaid coverage for autism therapy.

Ohio HB453 amends insurance and Medicaid coverage for autism therapy. It requires health insurers to cover screening, diagnosis, and treatment of autism spectrum disorder. Insurers must cover applied behavior analysis therapy, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and mental health outpatient services for children under 14. Medicaid will set payment rates for applied behavior analysis therapy for enrollees with autism. The bill also allows exam-eligible technicians to practice applied behavior analysis under supervision.
