Ohio HB437, known as the Healthy Cardiac Monitoring Act, requires youth athletes to undergo physical examinations by licensed health care professionals before participating in athletic activities. The bill mandates the creation of a preparticipation physical evaluation form based on guidelines from medical associations and the American Heart Association. Youth athletes cannot participate if they exhibit syncope or fainting without clearance from a health care professional. Coaches must remove athletes from participation if syncope or fainting occurs.
