HB339

Allow surviving spouse to retain Purple Heart license plate

Chamber Passed·6/3/26

Allows surviving spouse of Purple Heart recipient to retain or obtain Purple Heart specialty license plate.

The bill amends Ohio law to allow the surviving spouse of a Purple Heart recipient to retain or obtain the "Purple Heart" specialty license plate. The surviving spouse must not have remarried and must provide evidence of the deceased person's award of the Purple Heart. The application for the license plate requires payment of applicable fees and taxes. The bill also repeals a previous section that allowed the surviving spouse to retain the license plate without additional fees.
