Ohio HB185 prohibits unauthorized use of individuals' persona for commercial purposes and criminalizes malicious deepfake recordings.

Ohio HB185 amends the Revised Code to prohibit the use of an individual's persona, including their name, voice, signature, photograph, image, likeness, or distinctive appearance, for commercial purposes without consent. The bill defines "commercial purpose" as using an individual's persona in connection with various commercial activities. It allows individuals or entities owning more than 50% of an individual's right of publicity to grant consent for commercial use.
