Restores age and service eligibility requirements for ordinary retirement for members of the unified court system.
This bill amends the retirement and social security law to restore the age and service eligibility requirements for ordinary retirement for members of the unified court system. It sets the normal retirement age at 63 for general members and 62 for uniformed court officers or peace officers. The bill also reduces the retirement age from 63 to 62 and lessens the reductions in benefits for those who retire prior to normal retirement age. The changes will affect members who first become members of a public retirement system on or after April 1, 2012.
