Prohibits members of the legislature and legislative employees from using confidential information to profit in predictive markets.
The bill amends the public officers law to prohibit members of the legislature and legislative employees from using confidential or non-public information obtained in the course of their official duties to personally profit or assist another person in personally profiting in predictive markets. Predictive markets are defined as any exchange traded platform or service where participants buy and sell contracts based on the outcome of future events. The act takes effect immediately.
