The New York state commercial driver's license training act enables municipalities to defray the cost of commercial driver's license training for municipal employees. The commissioner of transportation is directed to establish a program and award grants to municipalities on a competitive basis. Grant funds can be used for tuition, fees, and materials for CDL training, as well as examination, permit, and medical examination fees. The commissioner may also promulgate rules and regulations necessary to implement the program.
