Requires insurers and health plans to grant automatic preauthorization approvals to eligible health care professionals in certain circumstances.
This bill amends the insurance law and the public health law to require insurers and health plans to grant automatic preauthorization approvals to eligible health care professionals for certain health care services. It specifies that an automatic approval is granted if, in the most recent six-month evaluation period, the insurer has approved at least ninety percent of the preauthorization requests submitted by the health care professional for the particular health care service. The automatic approval remains in effect until the next evaluation period.
