This bill extends the presumptive eligibility period for certain retirement benefits from twenty-five to thirty-five years for injuries or illnesses related to World Trade Center rescue, recovery, and clean-up operations. Specifically, it allows retirees who die from a qualifying World Trade Center condition within thirty-five years of retirement to be eligible for accidental death benefits. Currently, the eligibility period is limited to twenty-five years.
