New York S10004 amends the education law to require the establishment of LGBT awareness curriculum or instruction in schools. The curriculum must cover the historical treatment of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and gender non-conforming individuals. Schools may incorporate this content into their social studies curriculum or another appropriate method. The law takes effect July 1, 2027, for school years starting on or after that date.
