The assessor of Rockland County is permitted to accept an application for exemption from real property taxes for the specified years and taxes. If the assessor approves the application, they may grant the exemption and make necessary corrections to the tax rolls. If the exemption is granted and taxes have already been paid, the governing body or tax department may refund those taxes.
