The NYS ratepayer protection nuclear moratorium act prohibits state agencies from using funds or subsidies for new, reopened, or rebuilt nuclear power facilities for 30 months. It also establishes a nuclear assessment task force to evaluate the costs, health, safety, security, and environmental impacts of nuclear power. The task force will submit a final report to the public, governor, and legislature, after which the act will expire.
