Prohibits falsely impersonating an employee organization or employee representative with intent to deceive and cause harm.
This bill amends the civil service law by adding a new section prohibiting the false impersonation of an employee organization or employee organization representative. It defines "falsely impersonate" as using fraud, misrepresentation, material omission, or other deception in verbal, written, or electronic communication with the intent to deceive and cause harm. The attorney general is authorized to bring an action or proceeding to enjoin such unlawful acts or practices, with fines up to one thousand dollars per incident, subject to court discretion.
