This bill amends the education law to establish a process for charter school applicants to first apply to the community district education council or the board of education of the school district for approval of charter renewal. Public hearings must be conducted on such proposed applications. The community district education council or the board of education shall deny or certify such renewal application at the regularly scheduled May meeting.
