Allows up to three years of service credit for prior police service outside New York with an accredited agency.
This bill amends the retirement and social security law to allow a member to obtain up to three years of service credit for prior paid police service within the United States with an accredited police agency outside of the state of New York. To be eligible for this credit, a member must have at least five years of credited service. The member must apply for this credit prior to the effective date of their retirement. The bill also authorizes the addition, amendment, and/or repeal of any rule or regulation necessary for the implementation of this act.
