Establishes the authority of the Department of Environmental Conservation to manage Atlantic bonito and false albacore.
This bill amends the environmental conservation law to grant the Department of Environmental Conservation authority to manage Atlantic bonito and false albacore. The department can set regulations including size limits, catch and possession limits, open and closed seasons, closed areas, and restrictions on the manner of taking and landing. These regulations must be no less restrictive than existing requirements and consistent with applicable fishery management plans. The authority expires on December 31, 2029.
