This bill amends the social services law to remove certain restrictions on the release of unfounded reports of alleged abuse or maltreatment for persons engaged in bona fide research purposes. It allows such reports to be released to researchers, provided that no identifying information is made available unless absolutely essential to the research and approved by the department. The bill takes effect 30 days after becoming law.
