This bill amends the general business law to prohibit motor vehicle manufacturers and dealers from charging subscription fees for certain vehicle functions after the vehicle is sold. These functions include convenience or safety features that utilize components and hardware already installed on the vehicle at the time of purchase or lease and would function without ongoing cost or support from the dealer, manufacturer, or third-party service provider. The bill exempts navigation system updates, infotainment features, and other specified services.
