Requires a referendum on the dissolution of a fire district to be held if a dissolution plan is approved.
This bill amends the general municipal law to require the governing body of a fire district to enact a resolution calling for a referendum on the proposed dissolution by the electors in the fire district. The referendum must be held within sixty to ninety days after the resolution is enacted, or during a town general election if it falls within that period. The resolution must include the name of the fire district, the date for the referendum, and a summary of the dissolution plan. The fire district will bear the costs of the referendum.
