This bill amends the retirement and social security law to provide certain death benefits to correction officers, correction officer-sergeants, correction officer-captains, assistant wardens, associate wardens, or wardens employed by Orange county. The in-service death benefit will be the value of the pension reserve as if the member had retired on their date of death. The bill includes an immediate past service cost of $537,000, which Orange county can amortize over 10 years. The estimated annual contributions will increase by $41,000 starting from fiscal year ending 2027.
