New York S08948 amends the vehicle and traffic law to require that any person, firm, association, or corporation selling or leasing bicycles with electric assist and electric scooters in New York State must affix front and rear lights. The front light must emit a white light visible from at least 500 feet during darkness, and the rear light must emit a red light visible from at least 300 feet. At least one light must be visible from 200 feet on each side. This act will take effect one year after it becomes law.
