The "connected consumer product end of life disclosure act" mandates that manufacturers of connected consumer products disclose the duration of technical support, security updates, and bug fixes for the software, hardware, or firmware necessary for the product to function securely. Manufacturers must provide this information on the product web page, at the point of sale, or through the retailer if direct disclosure is not possible. The act also requires manufacturers to notify customers six months before and on the date the product reaches its end of life.
