The bill, known as "Jake's Law," authorizes the town of Yorktown in Westchester County to install and operate photo speed violation monitoring systems within construction or maintenance work areas. The systems will notify and educate motor vehicle operators about the presence of these systems. The town is also authorized to design and implement a public information campaign. The commissioner of transportation can impose monetary liability on vehicle owners for speed violations in these work areas. The systems cannot be installed or operated on highway exit ramps.
