New York S07148 provides a heart disease presumption for certain probation officers.

New York S07148 amends the retirement and social security law to provide a rebuttable statutory presumption that heart disease was incurred in the performance of duty for certain probation officers. This presumption applies to members employed as probation officers, supervising probation officers, or probation officer trainees in a city with a population of one million or more. The bill provides a performance of duty disability retirement benefit equal to 75% of Final Average Salary. The legislation does not require appropriation and takes effect immediately.
