New York S06688 amends the retirement and social security law to introduce a new optional twenty-year retirement plan for county correction officers and deputy sheriffs. This plan allows eligible members to retire with twenty years of service credit, receiving a pension of one-half of their final average salary. Counties may elect to provide an additional pension benefit of one-sixtieth of the final average salary for each year of service beyond twenty years, up to a maximum of three-quarters of the final average salary.
