Allows NYSTRS retirees to change their retirement plan beneficiary to a spouse at any time.
This bill amends the education law to allow New York State and Teachers' Retirement System (NYSTRS) retirees to change their retirement plan beneficiary to a spouse at any time, either prior to or after retirement. Previously, retirees could only make such changes within 30 days of retirement. The change applies to retirees who have been retired for disability as well. The act takes effect immediately.
