Requires drivers to create a center rescue lane on approach of authorized emergency vehicles.
This bill amends the vehicle and traffic law to require drivers to create a center rescue lane on approach of authorized emergency vehicles. On roadways with multiple lanes, drivers in the leftmost lane must move to the left edge, drivers in the rightmost lane must move to the right edge, and drivers in the center lanes must move toward the left or right to create a clear lane in the center until the authorized emergency vehicle passes. On one-lane roadways, drivers must move as far to the right as possible until the authorized emergency vehicle passes.
