New York S04685 amends the education law to include a faculty or staff member on the board of trustees of community colleges, elected by and from among the faculty and staff of the college. The faculty or staff member will serve a two-year term, with their election conducted by the largest faculty organization on each campus. This member will have the same parliamentary privileges as other voting members. The bill also ensures that the faculty or staff member must resign if they cease to be an employee at the institution.
