Establishes scramble crosswalks in cities with a population of one million or more during student arrival and dismissal times.
New York Senate Bill S04508 amends the vehicle and traffic law to establish scramble crosswalks in cities with a population of one million or more. These crosswalks will be operational during student arrival and dismissal times, specifically between 8:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. on weekdays. The crosswalks will temporarily stop all vehicular traffic to allow pedestrians to cross safely. Bicyclists may proceed with pedestrians when a pedestrian-control signal indicates a sign to walk, but must yield to all pedestrians in the intersection.
