Establishes protections for minors featured in compensated video content on social media or other video-sharing websites.
New York S00825 amends the labor law and estates, powers and trusts law to establish protections for minors featured in compensated video content. Content creators must set aside a percentage of gross earnings in a trust account for the benefit of the featured minor. The trust account is to be preserved until the minor reaches the age of majority. Featured minors can request permanent deletion of their content from online platforms. The bill also allows for civil actions to enforce the provisions of this section.
