Authorizes certain officials to visit mental health facilities for care and treatment.
This bill amends the mental hygiene law to allow the governor, lieutenant-governor, commissioner of general services, secretary of state, comptroller, attorney general, and members of the legislature to visit any facility designated by the commissioner of mental health for care and treatment. These officials must notify the director of the facility in advance. The director can deny a visit if it would interfere with therapeutic activities or facility management. No other person is permitted to enter a facility without the commissioner's authority.
