Jacobe's Law mandates that school administrators must contact parents or guardians when bullying or harassment has occurred. School employees must investigate and verify incidents of harassment, bullying, or discrimination. Upon verification, a licensed or certified school counselor, school social worker, school psychologist, school nurse, principal, or assistant principal must discuss the incident with the involved students and determine if contacting a student's parent or person in parental relation is in the student's best interest. Discussions must be documented.
