New York State Senate Resolution commends Richard Macheda for his designation as recipient of the Liberty Medal, the highest honor bestowed upon an individual by the New York State Senate. The resolution recognizes Macheda's heroic actions during a house fire in Syracuse, where he, along with a police officer, performed CPR and stabilized a woman until emergency services arrived. Macheda, a long-time first responder, has dedicated 25 years to the Cazenovia Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps and 39 years to the Cazenovia Fire Department.
