Prohibits manufacturers from importing and selling certain household cleaning products that use animal testing conducted on or after January 1, 2028.
This bill amends the general business law to prohibit manufacturers from importing and selling certain household cleaning products that use animal testing conducted on or after January 1, 2028. The prohibition does not apply to animal testing conducted to comply with federal or state laws, when no appropriate nonanimal testing methods exist, or when existing nonanimal testing methods cannot meet federal or state testing requirements. Violations are punishable by a fine of up to $5,000 plus an additional $1,000 for each day the violation continues.
