This bill allows the Asbury Methodist Church to file an application for a real property tax exemption. If the application is accepted and the church would otherwise be entitled to the exemption, the city assessor may grant it. The city council of Mount Vernon must approve the exemption. If the exemption is granted, any taxes paid will be refunded, and unpaid taxes will be canceled. The act takes effect immediately.
