The bill enacts the "NYS ratepayer protection nuclear moratorium act" which prohibits state funds and subsidies for new, reopened, or rebuilt nuclear power facilities for 30 months. The moratorium also applies to related entities. The bill establishes a nuclear assessment task force to evaluate the financial, environmental, and health impacts of nuclear power facilities. The task force will assess the cost, security risks, and community impacts of new nuclear power facilities, among other factors.
